Medicaid โ Durable Medical Equipment & EPSDT
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) + state Medicaid agencies
Medicaid covers medically necessary durable medical equipment โ such as wheelchairs and communication devices โ when prescribed. For children under 21, the EPSDT benefit requires states to cover any medically necessary device.

ACL โ Administration for Community Living (Assistive Technology Act)
Every US state and territory has a federally funded Assistive Technology Act program offering device demonstrations, short-term device loans, reuse/exchange of equipment, and low-interest financing to help people obtain assistive technology.

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR)
State Vocational Rehabilitation agencies (Rehabilitation Act of 1973)
State VR agencies help people with disabilities prepare for, obtain and keep jobs โ and will often pay for the assistive technology needed to work or to study toward employment.
